Google Adwords vs. Facebook Marketing

Google Adwords vs. Facebook Marketing

Before we start comparing which platform may be better than the other, we have to first understand the fundamental differences between Google and Facebook.

Google:

The most popular search engine. According to Internet live Stats Google now processes over 40,000 search queries every second on average, which translates to over 3.5 billion searches per day and 1.2 trillion searches per year worldwide. The chart below shows the number of searches per year throughout Google's history:

Google Adwords:

Google AdWords is a means of advertising online. When searching for something on Google, the top 3-4 search results will have an “Ad” sign next to it in a green block.
These ads are specifically designed to provide you with the information you were intentionally looking for.

When using Google Adwords, you can create certain "keywords".
The role of a keyword is at the core function of search engines. Search engines crawl sites and if the keywords are accurate, serve those sites up as search results.

Paid search
Paid search is the term we use for advertising within the listings of a search engine. These normally appear at the top of a search page or to the side.

Quality score
Google looks at how relevant and useful your ad is to the searcher and the search terms they’ve used. It also looks at how many clicks your ad has received previously, also known as its click-through rate (CTR) and how relevant your landing page is.

Bidding
You pay Google AdWords each time your ad is clicked. The price you’re willing to pay for each click is called cost-per-click (CPC).

Google Adwords is a great way to ensure that your business ranks on the top of a search page.

Facebook:
According to Wikipedia, Facebook has more than 2.2 billion monthly active users as of January 2018.

Facebook is a social platform and the main intention of being on this social platform is not to search for products or services directly.
This being said, businesses use this giant social platform to inform people of their services and products.
Facebook tries to show people the ads that are most pertinent to them. That’s why they always use relevance as a factor in determining how they deliver ads.
Taking relevance into account helps ensure that people see ads that matter to them, leading to a better experience for people and businesses alike.

Advertising on Facebook is one of the best ways to get the word out about your business. Facebook's Ads allow you to promote your page to the right audience.

By using the powerful feature of targeting on Facebook, you are able to market directly to your preferred audience. As an example, you can target Men who are architects, age 35 - 45, stays in Johannesburg and likes Formula 1.

One of the best ways to advertise on Facebook and get more business is through a marketing funnel. Read more about what a funnel is here.
With Facebook marketing, you are able to put your ads in front of the right crowd.

So there you have it. Choosing between Facebook and Google Adwords is like my mentor say; "Would you like only your left arm or right arm?"
